when God speaks, He creates.
therefore when we speak the Gospel, we should create the Gospel.
i was just reading ben carroll’s blog and that thought clicked for me. so shout out to benya in kenya.

it’s difficult to wrap my head around large, compiled, statistics. the other day in one of my classes, i learned that 12 million people will die from hunger related causes this year. obviously that’s a large number, but it’s still a rather obscure abstraction. what really brought it home for me was when the professor noted, “that’s one every five seconds, 960 people in this class period alone.”
this is profoundly sad. to think that after class i will go and eat a 1000 calorie slice of pizza, which will be more than these poorest of the poor will eat in many days. i have to ask myself, what am i doing in school, when i could be out there trying to save a life.
but i believe that God has placed us all in different roles, and so i should be thankful to Him and his Goodness. it is a privilege to be educated—and i think we all take that for granted sometimes. so i commit this semester to those 12 million people in hopes that God will allow me to learn enough that i might help one of them in the future.
it’s the first day of school, and i am getting pretty excited. i know, that’s nerdy, but i am really pumped about my courses for this semester, which is good because we all should be intrinsically care about what we study, or else we need to ask ourselves why we are studying in the first place. i hope everyone is having a good start of the year!

ok i am back now! we took our finals yesterday, had our going away dinner, played croquet in the garden, visited the pub for a final pint (or two or three), ran across the quad (which you are NOT supposed to do!), and then slept for a few hours before getting on the bus to the airport with the plane back to dallas. whew. that was a lot to do in one day.
and it feels so good to be back! i love england, but it’s nice to be home now. i’m getting pumped about school and new classes and a new semester and pigskin and friends and all that. i move back into baylor next week! i can’t believe summer is gone, it feels like just yesterday i was driving back to dallas. but that’s how summer always goes i guess.
anyways, thanks for reading about my summer. i’ll keep posting about any cool stuff i am up to, so check back every now and then. ok, bye.
